As a journalist, Yelayu focuses on being a voice that uplifts issues that affect and exist within the African-American community and among BIPOC. He writes experientially and covers current events and the zeitgeist. His most notable and extensive affiliation has been as an Artistic and Social Community Contributor for Blavity, a Forbes-recognized new media and tech company built primarily for Black Millennials that supports Black creativity and culture in various fields, disciplines, and genres, across the African diaspora, while also covering world events, news, and cultural events through the lens of Black journalists familiar with the culture. Meanwhile, Yelayu’s primary personal work is as a Partner for Medium, a publishing and social journalism platform that is one of the largest in the world with 60 million unique readers per month.
